Teaching English online has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional journey so far.
Recently, I reached a milestone of 50+ English lessons taught on Preply. While the number itself may seem modest compared to more experienced tutors, it represents something much more meaningful to me: dozens of conversations, learning experiences, and opportunities to help students become more confident communicators.
I’ve actually taught a few more lessons since reaching this milestone, and I’m grateful to see my calendar gradually filling up and students continuing their learning journey with me through renewed subscriptions.
What makes this achievement even more special is that it happened within a relatively short period of time. Looking back, it’s amazing to see how much can grow from consistently showing up, learning, improving, and giving your best every day.
What Teaching English Online Has Taught Me
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from teaching English online is that every student learns differently.
Some students thrive with structure and detailed feedback. Others learn best through conversation, storytelling, and real-life scenarios. As a tutor, I’ve discovered that the most effective lessons are often the ones tailored to a student’s individual goals, interests, and learning style.
I’ve worked with professionals looking to improve their business communication, entrepreneurs preparing for international conversations, and learners who simply want to speak English more confidently in everyday situations.
Through these experiences, I’ve learned that language learning is not just about grammar and vocabulary. It’s about helping people express their thoughts clearly, communicate with confidence, and connect with others more effectively.
The Power of Personalized Learning
One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching English online is seeing students grow over time.
Whether it’s hearing a student use new vocabulary naturally, speak with greater confidence, or successfully communicate in a challenging situation, those moments make every lesson worthwhile.
Recently, one of my students shared feedback that every class was becoming more tailored to their needs. Comments like that remind me why I enjoy teaching so much. They reinforce the importance of listening carefully, adapting lessons, and creating a learning environment where students feel supported.
