I Took a VA Niche Assessment… and It Confirmed What My Journey Had Been Telling Me All Along

One of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve experienced is realizing that my value isn’t defined by the tools I know.

Today it’s GoHighLevel.

Tomorrow it could be HubSpot, ClickUp, Notion, or another platform.

The software changes.

The underlying work doesn’t.

What I truly enjoy is:

  • Turning scattered ideas into organized systems.
  • Building workflows that save people time.
  • Creating documentation that teams can actually use.
  • Helping founders focus on leadership instead of operational chaos.

That’s much closer to being an operations and systems partner than simply completing administrative tasks.

A Quiz Didn’t Define My Direction—It Confirmed It

I don’t believe one assessment (VA Niche Assessment) should determine anyone’s career.

But I do believe it can reveal patterns.

For me, this wasn’t a surprise.

It confirmed what years of executive support, project coordination, process documentation, CRM implementation, and business systems work had already been teaching me.

Sometimes clarity doesn’t arrive as a dramatic breakthrough.

Sometimes it arrives quietly, after enough experiences begin pointing in the same direction.

My Biggest Takeaway

The most valuable part of this experience wasn’t the percentage.

It was the reminder printed near the bottom of the results:

“Start with one clear service, not ten.”

As freelancers, it’s tempting to list every skill we’ve ever learned.

But clients don’t usually hire us because we can do everything.

They hire us because we solve a specific problem well.

That reminder couldn’t have come at a better time.

My Journey Continues

I’m still learning.

I’m still experimenting.

I’m still documenting every implementation, every lesson, and even every unexpected challenge.

In fact, one of my favorite projects right now is building The Mari Effect Implementation Portfolio—a collection of real implementation case studies, discoveries, lessons learned, and practical solutions.

Because I believe growth isn’t just about collecting certifications.

It’s about collecting experience, documenting what you learn, and using it to help others more effectively.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a freelancer who feels like you’re “doing a little bit of everything,” don’t rush to label yourself.

Instead, pay attention to the work that consistently energizes you.

Look for the patterns.

Your niche may not be something you choose overnight.

It may be something your experiences have been quietly building all along.

For me, this assessment didn’t tell me who I should become.

It simply reminded me of who I was already becoming. 💜🌸
